We would like to extend warm Thanks to Bryan Gust for his service and dedication to Town Council over the past years!
Penny Shantz – Mayor
My husband Ron and I chose the Bashaw area to build Country Nine Golf Course, and chose Bashaw a second time as our retirement home. We became involved in numerous local organizations and enjoyed the many volunteer activities. Eleven years ago a local gentleman suggested I put my name forward for a seat on council . Our two adult children , Chris and Leana and Ron gave me their blessing and the rest , as they say , is history.
It has been a pleasure to work with every councilor and employee thru the years and an honour to work for each resident for the vibrant future of Bashaw.
Rosella Peterman – Deputy Mayor
I am married to Terry and we have 3 adult children, 2 in-law family members and 7 grandchildren. Both Terry and I were born in Saskatchewan although in different areas, met and married in Vancouver. Together we have lived in all 4 western provinces taking up residence in each one on several occasions, living both in major cities and small villages and towns. We have been residents in Bashaw since 2012 and thoroughly enjoy small town life here.
Professionally I attended the Manitoba Institute of Technology where I was enrolled in the Architectural Design program. On completion of my course I switched gears to work for a Municipal Engineering firm and, during our many moves, I worked for several more engineering firms before finding work in Legal Land Surveying. I have never been afraid to try a new aspect of work but found much of what I did centered in land development. In the meantime I enjoyed the architectural aspect and have continued in design and construction plans through my own private company of Green Gable Design.
Both Terry and I have always been very involved in the communities where we lived. One of my most satisfying volunteer opportunities was with Habitat for Humanity where I provided over 2 dozen set of house plans, helped in the construction of many of them and served as chair of the Building Committee, on the Board of Directors and on the Executive Committee of the Board. For my involvement here I was awarded the UMA Denis Cote Community Service Award and the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Metal. Of course the biggest reward was seeing the looks of joy on the faces of the partner families as they received the keys to their new homes.
Lynn Schultz – Councillor
I was raised on a farm North West of Bashaw. In 1966, I married my wife Bernice. We have two children, Barry and Charlene and seven grandchildren.
I coached Minor Hockey for a number of years. I was a part of the building committee for the Community Centre and sat on the Recreation Board and Agricultural Society Board.
In 1990, we moved to Southern Alberta where I managed a Forage seed farm. In 2007, we returned to Bashaw. I am very involved with many aspects of my community.
Darren Pearson – Councillor
I was born and raised in the Bashaw Area. I am married to Carrie and we have two daughters, Presley Age 11 and Ireland Age 8. My wife and I have owned and operated Bashaw Meats & Sausage Ltd. for 10 years now. My wife and I have always been very involved with our community. We both sit on several Boards in our Community and devote much of our spare time to Volunteering throughout. I am currently in my first term at Council.
Rob McDonald – Councillor (new)
